We’ve blogged Neil Blokamp’s awesomeness before. Now, with his Peter Jackson produced District 9 about to premiere, the hype is hot and his web presence is approaching saturation. Its hardly surprising, there’s something about his vision which shows the attractive side of apocalypse. A kind of stylish dystopia in which the ugly is made beautiful. The trick is his mix of the unwatchable hardship of grinding poverty with the allure of future technology. Yet this is not a straightforward juxtaposition. He flips flops through the transitions, so that the viewer has to work to catch up. Its a powerful method and worth having another look at.
